International Day for the elimination of violence against women is observed on 25th November every year. Back in 19th December 1999 General assembly of United Nations decided to designate a specific day globally to spread the awareness about the elimination of violence against women.
This date was declared after the cruel assassination of the three Mirabal sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic, on the orders of Dominican ruler Rafael Trujillo in 1960.
Violence against the women has become a global issue and it is the utmost need of the hour to spread the maximum awareness to safeguard the women rights, which is also a violation of human rights.
